Tim Goodman was born in California and spent his early childhood in the Bay Area and Los Angeles before moving to England where he spent his high school years. He returned to California, graduating from The University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Humanities with a focus on post WWII American Art.
While at Berkeley Goodman discovered the photographs of Robert Adams and Lee Friedlander. He was so moved by how these two photographers organized space and pursued new ideas about seeing that from this point forward he decided to devote himself to medium of photography.
When not photographing Goodman heads up GLD - Goodman Landscape Design with his wife, the artist Lisa Toby.
How we make our home in this world remains a constant theme in Goodman’s work. His photographs explore our complicated relationship to the natural world we inhabit, and what this might infer about our relationships with one another.
Goodman’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States and can be found in the permanent collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Palm Springs Museum of Art, The university of California, Berkeley Art Museum and the Northwest Center for Photography. He lives in Berkeley, California, with Lisa.
